Hello and welcome! My name is XYZ, author of the Art & History Site.

I have been deeply interested in art and history for my entire life. In high school (way back when), I ran a fairly popular website about the Italian Renaissance. In college, I double majored in Art History and History, and I have Masters Degrees in History and Middle Eastern Studies.

Yet, as is so often the case, interests – even really intense ones – fall by the wayside as we get older and are replaced by the demands of work and family life. For a long time, I was content just to read the occasional article or book, visit the occasional museum exhibition, and listen to podcasts on the subjects that have always fascinated me.

Then, the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Trapped at home and with little to do, I dove deep into history YouTube channels and blogs. There are so many writers and creators putting out entertaining and academically vigorous work and I started to wonder, well… why not me? I may not have chosen a career in academia, but why can’t I do this, too, and add my voice and knowledge to this community?

So, after much dithering, I started this website in January 2023.
